The Milldale mums are determined to save the life-changing Milldale Day Opportunities centre attended by their children.
Based in Linwood, it provides personalised day care support for over 18s with learning disabilities and autism.
But it faces closure due to a near £15m gap in budgets (it’s funded by SNP-run Renfrewshire Council and NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde).
The proposal, to be decided next month, will see either Milldale close or Mirin, which is another similar centre in Paisley. They will then be expected to merge, but that just won’t work for many who attend.
My colleague Councillor David McGonigle has been supporting the campaigners who have launched a petition and told their story on STV News.
I’ve now written to Humza Yousaf to explain the campaigners’ concerns and urged him to find a way to keep both of these vital services open.
